Abstract
Apple is considered one of the most productive fruit in Lebanon.
In 2016, the land area cultivated in apples was 13,604 ha with more than 21,640 farmers engaged in apple production.
However, there are a number of technical, organizational and financial constraints that limit the performance of the industry in both domestic and export markets, especially in the Arab Gulf.
This paper discusses those challenges.
