Abstract
The aim of our study was to investigate some environmentally friendly operations which reduce the negative impact of agriculture on environment.
In this purpose we analyzed the influence of pepper, eggplant, tomato and melon grafting on yields, performance in low soil temperatures conditions and control of soil-borne pathogens and nematodes.
The major advantage of grafted seedlings is related to permission to be used in organic cultivation, for its ability to prevent attack by Verticillium dahliae and Meloidogyne. Some other grafting benefits are: grower’s protection from exposure to harmful chemicals and food safety by consumer use of free residues vegetables.
Grafting experiments were investigated in greenhouse and open field conditions.
The investigated pathogens were for capsicum (Phytophthora nicotianae, Meloidogyne incognita, Ralstonia solanacearum), for eggplants (Meloidogyne incognita, Ralstonia solanacearum, Verticillium dahliae), for melons (Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melonis and Macrophomina phaseolina) and for tomatoes (Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici, Meloidogyne spp., and Ralstonia solanacearum). Our study envisaged the investigations of different grafting methods used in farms and their influence on yield and crop quality.
