The effect of organic fertilizer applied with mineral fertilizer on pistachio productivity

Abstract
Turkey is the third in the world production of pistachio after USA and Iran.
However, yield per unit area is not at the desired level.
The first reason for the low productivity is to be grown on dry conditions.
But other reasons besides this cause stem from the fact that the plant cannot feed enough.
Most of the soils pistachio grown in are clayey, lime and alkaline.
Besides, the organic material content of pistachio orchards is low.
It is known that the phosphorus fixation capacity of such soils are particularly high.
In these conditions, it is obligatory the use of mineral and organic fertilizers together in pistachio growing in Turkey., The experiment was carried out for four years on the 25-year-old Uzun pistachio cultivar in the dry conditions of Gaziantep province.
According to soil analysis, only necessary mineral fertilizer was applied to the control plot.
Two doses of organic fertilizer (25 and 50 kg tree-1) together with mineral fertilizer were used for treatment plots.
The yield has been followed for four years; 25 kg tree-1 organic fertilizer combined with mineral fertilizer has increased the yield by about 40%. It is concluded that this increase is not only due to organic fertilizer improves the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil, but also increases the efficiency of mineral fertilizer.
