Evaluation of some German plum cultivars in the region of Belgrade (Serbia)

Phenological traits, yield, and fruit characteristics of eight German plum cultivars were studied in the region of Belgrade in the seven-year period (2012-2018). The average time of flowering of tested cultivars was in the first half of April, and the average duration of flowering varied from 7.4 to 11.0 days.
Time of fruit maturation ranged from July 4 (‘Katinka’) to August 30 (‘Elena’). The average yield tree^‑1 was the lowest in cultivar ‘Tophit’ (13.9 kg) and the highest in cultivar ‘Topking’ (21.2 kg). The lowest vigour was recorded in cultivars ‘Topper’ and ‘Top’, and the highest in cultivar ‘Jojo’. The average fruit weight ranged from 22.6 g in cultivar ‘Katinka’ to 45.4 g in cultivar ‘Tophit’. High soluble solids content (above 20%) was found in cultivars ‘Topking’ and ‘Tophit’. The best rated cultivars for appearance were ‘Tophit’ and ‘Jojo’, while cultivars ‘Hanita’ and ‘Katinka’ were best scored for taste.
