Abstract
It is well established that increasing the level of green space and nature in cities is beneficial not only for people but also for the planet.
Yet this is not always reflected in policy and practice.
The International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) Green City Initiative aims to bridge the gap between research and those responsible for implementing and maintaining urban green infrastructure.
This conference paper provides a practical review of the way the evidence can be integrated, and how to develop facilitating the implementation of green infrastructure.
It presents the role of stakeholder analysis to inform content and delivery, alongside the experience of the power of storytelling.
Through case studies and practical examples this paper considers how to address gaps, as well as demonstrating what has created successful shared learning opportunities through the initiative.
The development of different activities for authorities to share and showcase their work provides an example of ways in which academic research is also able to integrate with best practice.
It presents an opportunity for all to strive forward to make urban greening knowledge sharing easier.
