Abstract
Local varieties of apples and pears were harvested in Switzerland and a collection of standard size trees was planted in the Arboretum of Aubonne. 103 apple and 55 pear cultivars were registered, but more than 150 cherry varieties are foreseen.
Special attention is devoted to resistance against diseases and agronomical characteristics like the ability to grow at certain altitudes.
It is planned to include also plum, peach, nut and chestnut trees.
