Abstract
A selection of 21 morello sour cherry cultivars was evaluated as to productivity and fruit characteristics.
Several cultivars performed better than the standard cultivar English Morello: Fanal, Beutelspacher Rexelle, Nefris and Heimanns Rubinweichsel.
Yield levels of these cultivars were 2–3 times higher than that of English Morello, and quality properties were on the whole better.
Low temperature damage to flower buds was a major cause of yield fluctuations.
