Abstract
In the new sweet cherry scion breeding programme at East Malling Research Station the main objectives are resistance to bacterial canker, reliable cropping, good fruit quality, and reduced vigour.
An account of the general selection procedure is given and possible ways of breeding for dwarfer habit are reviewed.
