Abstract
In the Bonn-Meckenheim fruit growing area replant disease in apple culture can result in a decrease in income for the grower of 30,000 to 40,000 DM/ha.
The vigour and yield of replanted apple trees can be improved by various cultivation measures, i.e. deep ploughing twice rather than just once, using herbicides in the tree rows and grass mulch between the rows, providing sufficient supplies of nitrogen, calcium and water and using virus-free planting material.
