Abstract
An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was developed using an antiserum to a Victorian isolate of ORSV. The enzyme urease was used for the conjugate and was found to facilitate a highly sensitive colour change reaction.
It was used to assess the virus status of orchids of the genus Cymbidium from commercial and home garden collections in metropolitan Melbourne, Victoria.
A system of pooling samples into different sized batches was used to facilitate the study.
It was used to assess the virus status of orchids of the genus Cymbidium from commercial and home garden collections in metropolitan Melbourne, Victoria.
A system of pooling samples into different sized batches was used to facilitate the study.
Ten properties were sampled and in three of these no ORSV was detected indicating that less than 1% of plants were infected.
In the other seven, estimated infection levels with ORSV ranged from 3.45% to 20.63%.
