Abstract
A greenhouse can act as a solar collector if the rate of heat gain exceeds the rate of heat loss at times when it is at its set point day time timperature.
In order to achieve this greenhouse air extracted at a rate that maintains the set point temperature.
Mathematical expressions that describe the thermal behaviour of the greenhouse are used as the basis for calculating collector efficiency for a range of conditions.
