Abstract
Comparisons have been made between direct-drilled and transplanted leeks.
A range of sowing, transplanting and harvesting-dates has been investigated.

Direct-drilled crops matured earlier than transplanted crops from similar sowing-dates.
Young transplants gave better and earlier yields than older ones.

For early yields, direct-drilling in early March was successful and for harvesting from November onwards, drilling in early April gave good results.
