Abstract
Zantedeschia (calla lily) is often described as a "new" crop in the United States (Ball 1986), yet callas have been grown in the U.S. for over 130 years (Butterfield 1948). Despite this long history of production of Zantedeschia, it has been in the last ten years that the majority of research has been done on this crop.
This paper attempts to review what is known about Zantedeschia, what is currently under investigation in the United States, and what research this author believes should be done in the future.
A bibliography of material on Zantedeschia is also included.
