Abstract
Before I am going to explain and discuss the Danish organisation of Floriculture and Nursery Industries it is necessary to look at the framework, in which the scientists and the institutes are functioning.
Each country has its tradition, which mostly reflex historic knowledge and not todays facts.
Each country has its tradition, which mostly reflex historic knowledge and not todays facts.
Part of the tradition is also the structure of the industry, therefore a short introduction to the Danish horticultural industry will be shown.
Horticulture research activities are in some way connected to the industry and therefore we do not carry out fundamental research.
At the university level you find a mixture of basic and applied research with the weight toward basic research, at the research institute you also have a mixture of basic and applied research but with the weight toward applied research.
On the other hand the research of Floriculture and Nursery Industries can not live its own scientific life.
It is part of the scientific world national and international.
