Abstract
Apices of several species of Prunus were aseptically cultured on agar medium.
The nutrients of Murashige and Skoog, the minor nutrients of Heller, the vitamins of Jacquiot and sucrose are used.
The pH is adjusted to 5. Meristems are dissected from dormant buds.

Benzyl amino purine induces the differentiation of shootlets but inhibits the growth of the roots.
Indolyl butyric acid induces the formation of roots.

The rooted plantlets can be potted in a non-disinfected leafmould.
The period from excision to potting ranged from 2 to 4 months.

The first plants grown from meristems are now being indexed.
