Abstract
Attempts at modeling, simulation and environmental control in micropropagation have been made in the past decade, although the number of research papers published in this field is limited compared with the numbers published in other agricultural and horticultural fields.
The early works on modeling and simulation in micropropagation have shown their potential in optimizing the environmental and other conditions to maximize the growth of plantlets in the culture vessel (in vitro plantlets). In this article, recent research on modeling and simulation in micropropagation is reviewed, with emphasis on our recent modeling and simulation results.
The basic concept and methodology for developing models in micropropagation are given.
The effects of physical environmental conditions in the culture room and the ventilation rates of the vessel on CO2 concentration in the culture vessel, net photosynthetic rate and dry weight increase of the plantlets are discussed mainly from the viewpoint of environmental control engineering.
Research on modeling with respect to systems analysis in micropropagation is also reviewed and discussed.
