Abstract
Better decision-making information is necessary as the shift from the “old economy” (resource-based and quantity-focused) to the “new economy” (ideas-based and quality-focused) is realized.
Management activities will shift in emphasis, making current information systems inadequate.
Information systems developed for different users (i.e., the business manager, an advisor, or a researcher) must be altered to be successfully utilized to address problems.
These alterations are reviewed and the emerging trends in information systems applications for the different users are discussed.
