Abstract
In the last 10 years great interest has been dedicated to the cultivation of grapes in greenhouses, with the scope of anticipating the harvesting time and thereby realize higher earnings.
The present report deals whit the techniques utilized in the Abruzzo Region for the production of table grapes cv. “Cardinal”, in protected cultivation, by which it is possible to anticipate the normal harvesting time by about 30 days.
Of particular importance is the practice of micro-irrigation throught the use of special drip distributors and/or nebulizers.
This permits to satisfy the various needs for the climatization of the greenhouses.
At present the area on which these methods are practiced in Abruzzo Region is of the order of 260 hectares with an annual production of 280 quintals per hectare for a total of 70.000 quintals, pratically all of which is exported to Economic European Comunity (EEC).
