Abstract
Seedlings of three apple cultivars (Akane, Mantet, and Melrose) were used in our experiment.
Foliar applications were carried out with urea solution at concentrations of 0.5 and 1%. The seedlings were sprayed during the period of vegetative growth, on June 20, June 30, and July 10. The numbers of roots, root length, root width, root volume, and total root surface were determined.
Root contents of N, P, and K were ascertained in seedlings at the end of the experiment.
Our results indicated that foliar application of urea in a concentration of 0.5% showed the best effect on root development.
