Abstract
The classical approach to plant nutrition enabled us to understand the basic nutrient requirements of crops.
However, the specific needs depend on a number of other factors in the plant environment, which affect the rate of nutrient uptake, nutrient distribution within the plant, and the rate of plant growth.
By integrating our knowledge of these environmental effects on the physiology of the plant with our understanding of nutrition, we can come nearer to our goal of explaining the other puzzling mysteries of plant nutrition.
