Abstract
The effect of crop density (20,400–47,620 plants/ha) on four main cabbage characteristics (plant height, number of leaves in the rosette, head diameter and head yield) was studied in the two.
Year period (1994–1995). Crop density had a rather strong effect on cabbage plants.
The plants resulted more vigorous in the case of lower plant density.
The greatest differences were observed for head diameter which from 14.77 cm (the highest crop density) increased to 18.83 cm (the lowest plant density). On average cabbage yield amounted to 44.72 t/ha, and was higher in the case of greater crop densities.
The maximum yield amounting to 49.38 t/ha was recorded in the trial variant with 33,715 plants per 1 ha.
