Abstract
Multivariate Data Analysis (MVDA) are methods for extracting information from large sets of data. MVDA is useful to understand the relationships among variables studied, correlation among them and their significance.
This type of analysis allows a better understanding of the structure of germplasm collections, helps to identify which variables are more relevant and identify relationships among accessions.
This will help to build a ‘core collection’ (group of accessions that represent the total variability present in the collection), which is very important in terms of germplasm conservation.
In the present study, MVDA was applied to analyze a germplasm collection of loquat (Eriobotrya japonica). The objective of the paper was to point out the advantages and usefulness of this analysis in germplasm studies.
