GENOTYPE VARIATION IN FRAGARIA x ANANASSA DUCH. SEED GERMINATION UNDER IN VITRO SALINITY STRESS

          Four strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) progenies were germinated on modified Knop’s agar media supplemented with 0, 17, 34, 51, 68, 85 or 102 mM NaCl.
Genotypic variation was observed in percentage germination (P.G.) and mean number of days to germination (M.D.G.). P.G. decreased as NaCl concentrations increased.
Progenies from open pollinated ‘Tudla’ were superior to the other progenies in P.G. at NaCl concentrations higher than 68 mM.
