Abstract
The potential materials used in soilless culture studies in Turkey are pumice, perlite and peat.
This study reviews the situation of pumice, perlite and peat deposits reserves throughout Turkey and investigates some of their physico-chemical and physical proporties.
The following tests were carried out to ascertain the efficiency of a substrate as a growth medium, namely; water retention capacity; pore size distribution; bulk density; pH; electrical conductivity; cation exchange capacity; organic matter and CaCO3
