Abstract
Investigations on functional characteristics of transparent and translucent covering materials and their measuring methods.

The 430 Commission "Photometric properties of materials" of the "Comité National Belge de l’Eclairage (C N B E)", affiliated to the "Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage (C I E)" is engaged in studying the following points concerning the transparent & translucent materials (glass and plastics) who can be used in covering of greenhouses and other buildings:

  1. establishment of a table giving the functional characteristics of materials, essential to studies concerning building illumination, with extension to energetic properties as far as the problems of building conditioning justify it;

  2. establishment of a list of fundamental data who can be measured, with description of trial process;

  3. establishment of estimating methods of the functional characteristics (1) from the fundamental measured data (2).

The speaker, promotor of the 430 Commission of C N B E and responsible of the higher described work, gives some explanations about these three points.
