Abstract
Growth and productivity of Chandler trees propagated on selected J. regia seedling rootstocks were evaluated at two sites near Linden, California.
Site 1 was planted in 1989, and included Chandler trees nursery grafted on open-pollinated seedlings of Manregian, Eureka, Spanish, Ronde de Montignac and Corne. Rootstocks at site 2, planted in 1994, included seedlings of Eureka, Waterloo, Chandler, and Sunland seedlings from a California nursery, two additional J. regia sources named Russian and Carpathian by their respective suppliers, and Paradox hybrid seedlings from a California source.
Growth and productivity were similar among J. regia sources trees at site 1. At site 2, Paradox-rooted trees grew larger and had greater nut production than J. regia rooted trees in most years.
