Abstract
The vegetative propagation of Vaccinium corymbosum Brigitta and Duke was started in vivo from mother microplants grown in a greenhouse.
This method, tested on Hydrangea macrophylla, is based on the control of juvenility in woody perennials plants.
It ensures life expectancy in mother plants and makes it possible to achieve propagation objectives through the production, homogeneity and rooting capacity of cuttings.
After 300 days, cultivar Brigitta produced 244 cuttings per mother microplant.
Growth and rooting tests reveal production of new roots two weeks after cutting and the development of spontaneous and proximal branching averaging 3.24 for each seedling.
Vigour, rhizogenesis and heteroblasty are strong markers of juvenility in Vaccinium corymbosum. Their expression helps to improve the performance of vegetative propagation from cuttings.
