RESEARCHES CONCERNING THE CLONAL VARIABILITY AT THE STARKSPUR GOLDEN DELICIOUS APPLE VARIETY

The apple Spur types are unstable from the genetic point of view, presenting in the orchards, a great variability of forms.
In the variety Spur Golden were selected three types.

The 1405/965, type having trees of a compact type, with a very reduced vigour and with some features and pelicular characters, may be considered a new bud sport variety of the spur type appeared on a whole tree belonging to the Starkspur Golden delicious variety.

By its compactness, fruit bearing precocity and the reduced vigour of growing, this type present a great importance for production, especially for the setting up of the high density apple orchards.
