Abstract
There are about 350 species of Grevillea and many more subspecies, forms and cultivars.
All occur naturally only in Australia; many are with horticultural value and are widely grown.
There are also rare or threatened Grevillea taxa.
In Israel, several varieties of Grevillea are grown.
Most show no problems in rooting of cuttings, but, some like Grevillea CD or CS are recalcitrant in rooting.
The flowering stems of these plants are sold in local Israeli market and in Europe.
These plants are propagated form seeds, as cutting cannot be rooted.
The irregularity in inflorescence size and variation in plant yield led us to try to propagate the plant by means of tissue culture and thus obtain clonal uniformity.
Auxiliary buds of Grevillea CD or CS were placed on several media differing in their plant growth regulators content and maintained as green globular structures.
After about several months of maintenance of this treatment, the bud structures started to differentiate into shoots.
These shoots are now being propagated and are moved to rooting media and hardening before their horticultural value will be assessed.
