Abstract
Investigations into the Nutrient Film culture of tomatoes have shown that the first problem encountered in the laying down of the system is getting a slope between 1/50 and 1/100. On a level site this involves either digging out a channel or shifting a considerable quantity of soil.
Use of a simple "hanger" suspended on the heating pipes means that only the heating pipes need to be raised or lowered by sitting them on bricks to get the desired slope.
Wood, metal trays or coated paper trays can then be laid on the arms of the hangers and then the polythene film laid on these trays to accommodate the plants.
