Abstract
In many agricultural crops, rapid seed germination and seedling growth are required to achieve optimal yields.
Seed priming (pre‐sowing seed treatment) is a common practice to improve seed germination especially under unfavorable conditions.
FOLICIST® is a biostimulant produced by Biolchim SpA containing plant extracts, acetyl-thioproline, folic acid, and glycine betaine.
In tomato, melon, and cherry, FOLICIST® application enhanced plant metabolism leading to improved flowering and fruit set.
In some graminaceous and leguminous species, seed treatment with FOLICIST® also enhanced the percentage of germinated seeds and stimulated seedling growth.
In the present paper, FOLICIST® was shown to improve seed germination and radicle extension of wheat and maize seeds.
