Abstract
A pilot model of production system was developed for moss greening material in Yogyakarta.
Greening material is a plant grown in a panel which is utilized for narrow open space of a rooftop building.
The panel consists of moss plant (Sphagnum sp.) and hydroponics media which is suitable to attach in an asbestos roof.
The pilot model consists of 4 subsystems: design and development, aquaculture, assembly and scale-up.
The first subsystem, design and development, was pursued using the kansei engineering approach.
The second subsystem, the purpose of aquaculture is to increase the survival and growth of moss.
Moss plants were collected from the supplier in Jalan Bantul, Yogyakarta Special Region.
Materials were aquariums with the sphagnum moss, hyponex, air pump, fluorescence, pipes and growth media.
The cultivation was done in the uncontrolled room environment to test the survival and growth of moss in natural environment.
The natural moss was washed using tap water to remove dirt and unexpected micro-organism.
The wet moss was cultured in aquariums.
In the third subsystem, the cultivated moss was assembled to the roof top panel and tested in a confined space.
The panel sizes for the roof top greening prototype were 35×50 and 105×150 cm2 based on asbestos roof size.
In the fourth subsystem, this unit was scaled-up as a module for the application of roof top greening material in Micro-Small-Medium Agroindustry Culinary.
