Abstract
This paper presents floral initiation dates of some commercially interesting pear varieties in Zaragoza, Spain, from 1975 to 1978. The dates in which floral differentiation starts in this area for the studied varieties go from mid June to the end of July, according to varieties.
Some of these data are discussed in relation to other data obtained in different environmental conditions.

Since floral initiation occurs in different periods depending on the situation of buds (e.g., spurs, terminal buds of medium shoots, etc.), the preferential type of bearing in a wide range of varieties was studied as an indicator of the most interesting bud population in each variety according to its bearing habit.
