Abstract
Urban farming takes various forms and plays numerous roles for food production, human wellbeing, enhancement of life quality in cities, etc.
Through some French examples, we demonstrate that collective gardens, participatory farms and specialised farms contribute to maintaining food security thanks to the vegetable baskets donations, distribution of unsold food, the practice of solidarity prices, a consequent food production close to the consumers and continuous work to create and develop social ties between people.
Each of us can act at our level to develop urban agriculture and contribute to maintaining food security.
