Abstract
Post-fire regeneration levels of Cape Proteaceae depend on the size of pre-fire seed stores.
Based on seed maturation data, mainly for Leucadendron species, the most favourable season of burn is suggested for 9 sub-divisions of the fynbos biome.
These suggestions conflict in part with suggestions based on climatic models.
