Abstract
In a field study, the effect of furadan (2–3-dihydro-2–2 dihydro-2–2 dimethyl-7-benzol furanyl methylcarbamate) and mocap (0-ethyl S, S-dipropyl phosphorodithioate) on populations of Meloidogyne javanica and M. incognita on carrot cv. ‘Chantenay’ was investigated on a friable red clay soil.
The nematode populations prior to treatment were evenly distributed within the plots although the control plots had a slightly higher population.
After the application of the nematicides, the nematode populations were significantly reduced by all the rates of mocap and furadan.
The nematode populations prior to treatment were evenly distributed within the plots although the control plots had a slightly higher population.
After the application of the nematicides, the nematode populations were significantly reduced by all the rates of mocap and furadan.
The number of marketable and unmarketable roots was significantly increased by applications of furadan and mocap.
The fresh root yield of marketable and unmarketable roots was significantly increased by most of the rates of the nematicides.
