Abstract
The strawberry is grown as an annual crop in Israel, from September to May, under low polyethylene tunnels.
The common varieties cultivated at present are ‘Douglas’ and ‘Tufts’. In recent years early yielding varieties (‘Nurit’, ‘Rachel’, ‘Dorit’, ‘Ofra’), obtained as a result of our local breeding program, have occupied increasingly more of the cultivation area.
