Abstract
The title of my contribution to this symposium is: "A global scenario for floriculture 2000". What does the floribusiness look like in 2000? Who are the players? What is produced where? Which sales and distribution systems are used? What are the challenges for the business? What is the influence of bio and micro technology? We all know that it will be different in 2000!

My message today is that the future of the floribusiness looks bright.
Global consumption will increase with more than 50% and world flower trade will double.

My contribution consists of three parts.
First a broad overview of the world market.
Second a picture of world production.
Third an insight in world distribution and sales systems.
I will end with some remarks on floralpreneuring, entrepreneuring in the floribusiness.
