Abstract
A garlic genotype with resistance to local populations of the stem and bulb nematode has been selected, but the small cloves and bulbs make it unsuccessful as a commercial cultivar.
Systems were developed to culture meristems and to regenerate plants from callus derived from this clone.
Factors affecting the efficiency of production of virus-free propagation material and the methods of selection of desired somaclones are discussed.
