Abstract
The job “potting cyclamen” together with the necessary ancillary tasks was the example used to illustrate the procedure for obtaining the work requirement rate.
It was explained how to effect time studies in horticultural businesses and how they were carried out in the work trial, also the procedures for deriving the values.

Particular attention was paid to the problems of differences in performances between individuals and to the work procedures employed.
It is very important when obtaining the work requirement rate that the values determined should be defined and collected for use in horticultural practice.

Finally, the potential applications of the requirement rate in horticultural practice and in the model calculation were discussed.
