Abstract
In the society the demand for products and production methods which are environmentally compatible is increasing.
Artificial light is widely used in plant production in greenhouses in order to improve both quality and quantity of crops.
The increase in use of artificial lighting has been very fast and has led to an unwanted problem with light emission from greenhouse areas.
Inhibition or initiation of flowering in a greenhouse without darkening installation can be disturbed by a neighbour greenhouse with artificial lighting.
The influence of light emission from greenhouses on the fauna is not known.
Research on light emission from greenhouses is lacking, and information of the use of opaque and fully reflective material on light level and distribution in greenhouses are not available.
Results from preliminary experiments and measurements with the reflection from shading screen systems in an experimental greenhouse are presented at the symposium.
