Abstract
In this short communication the influence of extra light of 20 hours and an intensity of 7.0 W m with HPS lamps on the yield of cucumbers in wintertime in a greenhouse is obvious.
Under artificial circumstances it was clear that longer lightperiods per day, in the period after potting young plants, influence the harvest time of cucumbers.
The total fruit production under artificial circumstances is determined by the previous amount of light during the young phase.

The growth of tomatoes is highly influenced by the light intensity.
Reduction of the light intensity has a strong negative effect of the development of fruits in the top of the plant.
