Abstract
During the past 30 years the area of cranberry swamp as well as the berry harvest have been reduced.
This is because of the intensive agricultural cultivation of the swamps and the continuous extraction of peat.
After the peat extraction in the area of Ukrainian Polissia, exhausted peat-swamps remain.
These swamps require reclaimation.
Part of the land may be used for growing the cranberry Vaccinium macrocarpon Ait.
