Abstract
This research provides on-line measurement methods for melon ripeness determination using gas sensors.
Results indicate: 1) environmental influences on gas emission from the melons distort measurement results 2) it is sufficient to measure the melon’s surface temperature when considering its influence on the gas emission (the internal temperature can be neglected). Measurement methods were developed for temperature and humidity compensation.
A device for reducing measurement time was developed.
