Abstract
Asparagus officinalis and other species in genus Asparagus were investigated for their effect on the multiplication of soybean cyst nematode (Heterodera glycines). A. officinalis Gijnlim and 12 other species, subspecies, and variations in genus Asparagus were cultivated in soil infested with soybean cyst nematodes.
The number of cysts and eggs in the soil was significantly reduced by A. virgatus.
Older plants (6 weeks old at planting) had a greater effect than newly germinated seedlings.
Cultivation of Asparagus species did not affect on the mortality of soybean cyst nematode eggs remained in the cysts.
