Abstract
The European nursery industry demands high uniformity in the use of plant names.
Therefore the List of Names of Woody Plants and the List of Names of Perennials have been accepted as the standard of nomenclature by different international organizations.
Both lists were recently published in 2000. Together, they form a master checklist of nursery stock products.
In order to improve the scope and quality of this list the European Plant Names Working Group has been established recently by the ENA (European Nursery Association). The working group includes taxonomists and nurserymen from many European countries.
Every country has its own authority.
Together with this working group new lists of names will be provided to the nursery industry in 2005. A good example of nice cooperation between science and practice.
