Abstract
The effect of three irrigation frequencies on table grape cv.
Thompson Seedless, was evaluated on a clay loam soil.
Drip irrigation frequencies were established according to daily crop evapotranspiration ( Etc), estimated by water pan evaporation and a crop coefficient (kc) The treatments were as follows : irrigation when the accumulated daily Etc where equivalent to 6 hours of irrigation (T6), 12 hours of irrigation (T12), and 18 hours of irrigation (T18). The total amount of water for the season was the same for all treatments.
The largest wetted volume size was obtained with T18. This treatment also produced a higher berry weight and size.
Stem water potential was also measured, being higher in treatment T18. These results can be explained due to soil texture (clay loam) which produced a better water/air balance with a less frequent irrigation regime.
