Abstract
Some of plants have chamomile in their general names, like corn chamomile (Anthemis arvenisis). Although chamaemelum nobil or Anthemis nobilis has drug usages, medical chamomile used in this research is German chamomile. Chamomila recutita is well known and was used from the ancient.
Flower heads of the plant were used widely in drug and medicinal products, beverages and cosmetics.
Essential oil of the plant was very much used in perfumes.
Chamomile teas as espresso shape were current in Mediterranean regions.
In Iranian traditional medicine usage of chamomile was in oral pains, common cold, headache, rush and other treatments.
The importance of the research was obtaining a new, standard, confidence and simple method for determining chamomile extraction especially of the species of north eastern Iran (Golestan province-Gorgan city). First we try to prepare a rich hydropropylenglycolic extraction of the chamomile.
Method of extraction was maceration or percolation with propylenglycol and water as solvent.
Quality and quantity control for the extract was done with instrumental analysis methods.
For determination of essential oil of chamomile extract first we distilled the extract with steam water for 4 hours and blue essential oil was collected and injected in the GC apparatus.
The chromatograph was compared with a standard graph and showed that our essential oil of chamomile is in the range.
Also we could determine percentage of chamazulene of the extract with DAB method and a UV-Vis apparatus.
Then with a validated home method the amount of /-/-α-bisabolol was determined directly in the extract.
