Abstract
The ontogenetic stage of plant development and intensity of the development of individual floral formations influence the quality of the plant drug and essential oil yield to a considerable level.
The floral capitulum of the plant species Dyers chamomile (Anthemis tinctoria L. – Asteraceae) was evaluated in four principal stages of plant development.
The content of the essential oil in the individual floral parts ranged from 0.02 to 2.76% v/w.
The highest content of essential oil was found in the tongue-shaped flowers in the second development stage.
The content of essential oil in the air-dried drug was more or less significantly changed in the individual floral parts due to the locality of cultivation.
The chemical composition of the essential oil obtained from the flowerheads of Anthemis tinctoria L. was analyzed by capillary GC/MS; 86 components of the oil were separated, 48 of them were identified.
The major constituents were 1,8-cineole (7.9%), β-pinene (7.3%), decanoic acid (5.4%) and α-pinene (4.4%).
