Abstract
Lily bulbs for cut-flower production have been mainly imported to Korea for many years.
However, small portion of the lily bulbs for cut flower production to increase profits were self-produced in Korea recently.
To produce medium-size bulbs (6 – 9 cm in circumference), small size tissue cultured bulblets (1.2 g including roots) of Oriental hybrids ‘Casa Blanca’ and ‘Sorbonne’ were planted in flower boxes filled with the artificial medium mix composed of rice hull, coconut peat, and vermiculite.
During the culture period, plants received nutrient solutions of different concentrations of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) at the concentration of 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 mM for N, 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, and 1.25 mM for P, and 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 mM for K. The optimum concentrations of nutrient solution for medium-size bulb production were 15 mM, 1.0 mM, and 10 mM for N, P, and K, respectively.
